Staying ahead of trends isn’t about predicting what’s next overnight, but rather about paying attention long before a trend reaches the mainstream. That’s exactly how our team approaches trend forecasting.
While we’re talking about 2026 today, our work actually began in early 2025. We combine global forecasting with real-world market insights to identify the themes that will have the biggest impact on branded merchandise.
Our partnership with WGSN, one of the world’s leading trend forecasting authorities, provides valuable direction across design, color, materials, and consumer behavior. From there, we layer in our own perspective by tracking retail trends, analyzing weekly sales data, and watching how customer preferences evolve.
One of our biggest advantages is the experience within our own team. Many of us come from retail and consumer brands, giving us a practical understanding of how trends translate into products people want. Our design, product development, and marketing teams work together to interpret those broader consumer movements specifically for the branded merchandise industry.
The result is four defining trends that we believe will shape 2026 and beyond.
1. Smart Value: Thoughtful Purchases Over Cheap Prices
Today’s consumers aren’t simply looking for the lowest price; they’re looking for products that feel worth the investment.
That means value-priced items remain important, but they’re sharing the spotlight with elevated products, recognizable retail brands, and well-designed everyday essentials. Consumers are becoming increasingly intentional about how they spend, asking one simple question before making a purchase: Is this worth it?
The rise of “dupe culture” perfectly illustrates this shift. People are embracing products inspired by premium designs that deliver similar styles and functions at a more accessible price point. At the same time, many are willing to spend a little more on products that genuinely improve everyday life.
Smart Value lives at the intersection of affordability, quality, and thoughtful design. It doesn’t feel like settling; it feels like making a smart choice.

2. Strategic Joy: Designing Moments That Make People Smile
Last year, much of the conversation centered around “glimmers,” small, unexpected moments of happiness. This year, those moments have become far more intentional.
Brands are actively designing products that create joy through nostalgia, playfulness, and simple moments of delight.
We’re seeing this trend come to life through adult-focused games, fidget products, doodle kits, and nostalgic design elements like varsity-inspired styles and throwback aesthetics. Accessories such as bag charms have also exploded in popularity, giving people an easy way to personalize the items they use every day.
In a world filled with constant notifications and information overload, consumers are looking for products that encourage them to pause, play, and reset even if only for a few minutes.
3. Experience Enabled: Products That Become Part of the Memory
Consumers continue to prioritize experiences over possessions, but experiences still rely on the right products to make them even better.
Whether it’s travel, outdoor adventures, pickleball, golf, commuting, or simply navigating everyday routines, products help enhance those moments. Items like power banks, packable totes, compression cubes, coolers, pickleball paddles, golf balls, and travel accessories aren’t just functional; they become part of the experience itself.
For brands, this creates a powerful opportunity. Branded merchandise becomes more than a giveaway; it becomes part of the memories people create and revisit long after the experience is over.

4. Daily Balance: Wellness Through Small, Everyday Rituals
Wellness has evolved into one of today’s strongest consumer priorities. In fact, 84% of U.S. consumers now consider wellness an important part of their lives.
What’s changed is the way people pursue it.
Instead of chasing ambitious lifestyle transformations, consumers are embracing simple, achievable habits that fit naturally into everyday routines. We think of these as “micro rituals” small moments that help people pause, recharge, and take care of themselves.
Products like journals, habit trackers, supplement organizers, cooling fans, resistance bands, and hydration accessories support these routines without feeling overwhelming.
This makes Daily Balance especially relevant for employee wellness initiatives, HR programs, and organizations looking to support healthier workplace habits in meaningful ways.
The Colors Defining 2026
Color continues to be one of the fastest ways for brands to communicate personality and relevance.
This year’s palette reflects consumers’ desire for calm, optimism, and balance.
Pantone’s Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer, is a soft, bright white that creates a clean, calming foundation. Alongside it, we’re seeing warm neutrals that feel approachable, timeless blues that communicate trust and stability, and greens and teals that reinforce the growing focus on wellness.
The versatility of this palette allows brands to create a sense of calm, establish credibility, or make a more modern statement depending on their audience and message.
Looking Ahead to 2027
These trends aren’t short-lived; they’re rooted in broader shifts in consumer behavior that are likely to continue well beyond 2026.
Strategic Joy, for example, is closely tied to the continued rise of nostalgia. Y2K-inspired aesthetics remain especially popular with Gen Z, and we’re expecting to see even more expressive styling, brighter colors, metallic finishes, and playful accessories over the next year.
Small personalization pieces—like bag charms and collectible accessories such as LABUBU’s allow consumers to express individuality in simple, affordable ways.
At the same time, softer, minimalist color palettes aren’t going anywhere. Shades like Cloud Dancer continue to resonate because they feel clean, versatile, and timeless, while also providing an ideal backdrop for branding and decoration.
