How To Get the Most Out of SAGE’s Presentation Wizard: A Dialogue

**The scene opens with two Promo Bros walking into an internet café, mid conversation.**

Promo Bro 1: A presentation wizard? That sounds like an oversell. Can I just wave my hand in the air and it will create a presentation for me?

Promo Bro 2: You have to type some specifics, but otherwise you’re not far off.

Promo Bro 1: What, like coding stuff?  I knew it! I don’t know how to do all those techy things. A real wizard would figure out a way to do it for me.

Promo Bro 2: The SAGE Presentation Wizard does do it for you.

PB1: How?! If I don’t know how to code or speak computer or whatever?

PB2: It uses AI technology.

PB1: You mean robots?

PB2: No. I mean machine learning.

PB1: Well that’s terrifying. How can a machine learn stuff?

PB2: We’re getting off track. Do you want to work on that presentation or not?

PB1: Yeah. I just don’t know how a wizard machine comes into play.

PB2: It’s not a… *rolls eyes* Just watch. Open SAGE Workplace and click the Presentations icon in the menu on the left.

I’ve done that before. There was no wizard. I picked all the products myself…

I know. Presentation Wizard is a new feature that exists thanks to SAGE AI technology.

You sound like a commercial.

I just think AI is a cool tool.

It freaks me the heck out!

Why?! Do calculators freak you out?

No! Calculators aren’t going to rise and start a robot rebellion.

AI is a just a tool.

But you said earlier the machine learns stuff… That’s not normal. Screwdrivers are tools. They don’t learn. They just sit in the toolbox until I need them.

So does AI.

IT LEARNS IN A TOOLBOX?!

You can’t possibly be this naïve.

I’m just saying that tools don’t learn stuff.

Can we sidestep the philosophy of machine learning and do this presentation?

Okay okay.

We’re in the Presentations Module of SAGE Workplace, right?

Yes. Without a wizard.

*sighs* Click “New” on the Presentations Dashboard.

I know how to start a presentation. I already told you.

Just do it.

Fine… *clicks button* Hey look! Presentation Wizard! At the bottom of the drop-down menu there. Cool.

Told ya.

Does he have a tiny wand and a sparkly hat?

Seriously…?

What?

Just select Presentation Wizard.

Done. Hmm. What’s this?

It’s a new window where you can name the presentation, choose which client it’s for, and then tell the AI what you want.

Tell the AI what I want?

Yeah.

Is it a wizard or a genie? Do I get three wishes?

Ugh! Just fill in the fields, will ya?

Sure. I mean, I can fill in the presentation name and the client and stuff, but I don’t know what to say to an AI.

Just explain what you want it to do.

I want it to create a presentation.

I think that part has been established, but if it will make you feel better, you can type that at the beginning.

*types “Make me a presentation.”* Okay. Now what?

Tell it what the presentation is for.

*types* “for my client”

What kind of client?

What do you mean?

What kind of business is it? What do they need promotional products for?

Oh. It’s an Ag Center. They want stuff to have for their booth at the state fair.

Don’t tell me. Type it to the AI.

If you say so…

Trust me.

Okayyyy.

Anything else it should know?

They don’t want anything wearable. Something about ag folks being too rough on clothing.

Okay. Type that in, too.

I can tell it what NOT to include?

Yep.

Whoa. That’s crazy. What if they only want stuff that’s made from recyclable materials?

Tell the AI.

HOW DOES IT KNOWWWW?

You don’t have to understand how it works to use it. Do you know how your car works?

Sure. I put the key in the ignition and keep gas in it.

Okay. With the AI, you type the details in and keep it fed with data points.

Where does the data come from?

From all the product information suppliers enter in the SAGE database and as bunch of other data points people smarter than us thought would be helpful.

Smarter than us? I take offense to that.

Do you understand how AI works?

Not even close.

Me neither. So my point stands. Now, any other specifics we should type in?

I don’t think so.

How many product results do you want it to put in the presentation?

I don’t know. Ten?

We can start there. Do you have a favorite presentation template since you keep telling me you’ve made presentations here before?

I usually just go with the default.

Okay.

That’s it?

For the moment, yeah. Click “Create Presentation.”

*clicks*

*computer hums* Sometimes it takes a couple seconds.

AI isn’t as smart as you claim.

Shut it! Look…

Whoa. It wrote an intro for me and everything. But where are the products?

See the menu on the left?

Yeah.

Click “Items”

Hey. Neat! The wizard did his thing and put products in there for me.

Neat? The 50s called. They want their slang back.

Shuddup. Check it out: tiny tractors!

Nice. And if there are any products you don’t want to include, you can edit the presentation like you always have.

What if I want to add more?

You can do that, too!

Cool!

What happened to “neat”?

*ignoring the question* I still have one question, though.

What’s that?

Where does the wizard live?
