Many NFL teams are encouraging fans to \u201chomegate\u201d, enjoying the televised game from the safety of their humble abode. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brands, such as PepsiCo and Tostitos,\nare giving football fans a slice of the action by sending tailgating products\ndirectly to their doorsteps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cTailgate in a Box\u201d, promoted through PepsiCo, encourages fans to enter sweepstakes in hopes of winning a \u201cbox\u201d full of items like an outdoor projector and custom cornhole sets. For the chip and dip lovers out there (guacamole and salsa, anyone?), Tostitos will give away motion-activated \u201cFanTrack\u201d bags that play team chants when the chips are poured into a bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tostitos FanTrack Bags\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zhIV-xo-lgI?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Players are also reaping the\nbenefits of branded products, with Oakley providing face shields to teams,\nincluding coaches and officials. I call that a win-win for everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE MLB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you told me last year we\u2019d be seeing cardboard cutout fans at MLB games, I would have chuckled. But again, 2020 is a year of change and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time in MLB history, baseball stadiums have been empty. No longer do you hear shouting fans or vendors calling out \u201chotdogs, get your hotdogs here!\u201d Instead, teams have relied on fan donations towards cardboard cutouts in the seats. These cutouts are made with Correx, a durable material similar to a yard sign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/MLB-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/MLB.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/MLB-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/MLB-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Courtesy of MLB<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, fans\u2019 cutouts can get a \u201cfront\nrow seat\u201d and even sit next to someone\u2019s pet, team mascots, or celebrities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mariners were one of the first to announce their plans for the cutouts, titled the \u201cSeat Fleet\u201d. The A&#8217;s also set up multiple cutout options including one that raises funds for an ALS charity supported by A\u2019s outfielder Stephen Piscotty, whose mother passed away from the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NBA took this idea a few\nsteps forward and have screens that show virtual fans\u2019 reactions while watching\nthe games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>College Football <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From socially-distanced band members strewed across the field to marked off seats, with minimal fans present at the games, college football has also looked a little different these past few weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1010\" height=\"673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Getty-Images-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Getty-Images-1.jpg 1010w, https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Getty-Images-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sageworld.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Getty-Images-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1010px) 100vw, 1010px\" \/><figcaption>Courtesy of Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials are using electronic whistles initiated by touch this season, attaching them to their belts.
